Adoptable Cats

FoFF's adoptable cats have been socialized from a young age in foster homes and are friendly and looking for a loving forever home.

If you would like to adopt a cat from FoFF, please download and complete our Adoption Agreement form (.doc) and submit it to us either by fax or mail. We'll ask a few screening questions and do a brief home visit.

We ask for a donation to help defray the costs of basic medical care, such as the following, that we provide before their adoption ($85 for kittens up to four months old; $70 for cats over four months old):

  • Deworming
  • Flea/tick/mite control
  • Testing for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
  • Vaccination for major feline diseases (Rabies and Distemper)
  • Spaying / neutering

Highway and Shoestring

Farms are often dumping grounds for unwanted kittens. Such was the case for Highway and Shoestring, discovered along the road at only four weeks old.

These adorable kittens are now thriving and ready for a home where they'll be loved for life.

Miss Highway is growing into a gorgeous classic Maine Coon with striking markings. She loves playing with other cats and cuddling with people. Highway, as tiny as she was, took care of even tinier Shoestring, keeping him warm and clean.

Shoestring is very mischievous. His favorite morning ritual before feeding is to untie any shoestrings he sees — hence his name. He's growing into a beautiful classic Tabby with striking marks. Right now he's about 4 pounds, quite small for his age, probably a result of his abandonment at such an early age.

These two are closely bonded, and we'd love to see them stay together. Their entertainment value will keep you laughing!

Rabies and distemper vaccinations, and spaying are done, FeLV and FIV tests were negative.

Lana

Lana is a sweet 10-month-old kitten who loves other cats and loves to play. She talks to her cat friends when she wants them to come play. She snuggles with her caregiver once everyone's settled and still. She is very shy with new people, but once she's used to them, she adjusts and relaxes with them. She is not crazy about dogs, but that could change given time and the right setting.

She does love her brother Monkey and they would help each other when adjusting to a new home if they were adopted together but certainly do not need to be.

Monkey

Monkey is a very sweet 10-month-old kitten who loves other cats and loves to play. He purrs for his dinner and when he sees his favorite cat friends. He likes to be petted and likes to snuggle when his caregiver is comfy in bed. He's learning to like being picked up, but we're not there completely yet. He's still shy with new people but adjusts well and he'll make a great pet for a family willing to be patient with him. He loves all other cats and is fine with cat-friendly dogs.

He does love his sister, Lana, and they'd help each other adjust to a new home if they were adopted together, but they certainly don't need to stay together.

  Sid

Scooter

This beautiful classic orange Tabby is ready for his new home. He's about 10 months old and will be a very big boy when finished growing.

He might be happiest as a barn cat, but he's pretty friendly and can be picked up, so he has potential to become a happy house cat, too.

Rabies and distemper vaccinations, and neutering are done, FeLV and FIV tests were negative.

Charlie

This beautiful classic tabby Maine Coon is ready for her new home. She's about 10 months old and has been a "garage cat."

She loves to be warm and in her caregiver's company, though, so she could probably become very happy as a housecat.

Rabies and distemper vaccinations, and spaying are done, FeLV and FIV tests were negative.

Photo of Brady to come.

Brady

Brady, estimated to be about 4 years old, was recently rescued after being discovered outside last October. His rescuer assumed he was feral until she trapped him and took him to the vet where she discovered that he was neutered and declawed.

So, Brady was someone’s pet once, but now he's very nervous around people, but he loves other cats.

He's emerging from the closet that he hides in more and more each day, and he needs someone who will care for him patiently and never let him outside.

Brady is a handsome boy with medium-length black fur and large brown eyes. Pictures are soon to come.

Tuba - ADOPTED! YAY!

A classic Maine Coon-type, Tuba is a big boy; one might expect him to have a deep meow, but no. His tiny squeak is surprising and adorable.

We guess that Tuba is about two years old and was abandoned or lost and has been living on mice. At one time someone loved him, though, because he revels in being stroked, brushed, and scratched.

With a few good meals to fill him out and a little brushing, he'll look spectacular. He just wants to be safe and have a chance at some tuna once in a while.

Sid

Sid and his sister Bea came to FoFF as 4-month-old strays from the Hollis area two months ago. He's been neutered, has had his rabies shot, and has been living in foster care since his arrival.

Sid's foster caregiver has been socializing him, and he's made great progress. He's very attached to the other cats in the household and prefers their company over humans' right now, but he's getting more and more comfortable with having humans around. Once he's in his forever home, Sid will make a wonderful companion for people and other cats.

Bea

Bea and her brother Sid came to FoFF as 4-month-old strays from the Hollis area two months ago. She's been spayed, has had her rabies shot, and has lived in foster care since that time.

Her foster caregiver has been socializing Bea, and she's come a long way. She's still a little timid, but loves her cheese treats and an occasional scratch under the chin. Bea loves the company of other cats and cat-friendly dogs. She may not be as comfortable in a household with young children; a patient adult home may be the best to help her become a great housecat.

Clayton

Clayton is about 5 years old and came to us last winter as a stray with frostbitten ears and pads and half his fur missing. He has recovered beautifully since then and needs a safe, loving home.

Clayton loves to rub his head on you and be petted. He is not fond of being picked up, but will give love in other ways.He will be a big mush when he adapts to his new
home. If you want a great companion, please give Clayton his second chance.

Cody

Cody is a little over a year old and is a big, handsome boy. He is a very sweet cat but a little timid. He hides out if strangers are in the house, but he likes to be around his caregiver and even curls up in a nearby cat bed as long as he's comfortable with the environment and the people in it. He's very docile when picked up but doesn’t really like to be held for a long time. He'll occasionally jump into the lap of his caregiver, and if she picks him up and holds him in her lap, he'll stay there for brief periods as long as he doesn’t feel threatened or get frightened by anything. He loves to play and get treats, so with patience, play time, treats, and perseverance, he will eventually become a very loving pet for someone.

He and Frankie (below) have become good buddies and they like to hang out together, so it would be really great if they could be adopted together.

Frankie

This 9-month-old kitten's full name is Father Frances — and there's a bit of a story behind the name.

A mother cat and two kittens were discovered last summer at a camp on Crescent Lake, and FoFF was called to help trap the family. We caught the mom right away, but a week passed before one of the kittens ventured into the trap. The second kitten was nowhere to be seen all week, and the food put out for him went uneaten, so we began to lose hope. Then, a miracle.

At the camp, there's a very small Catholic church where services are held every Sunday. The mother and brother had been trapped in the bushes behind the church.

One Sunday morning, in the middle of mass, ten days after the mother had been trapped, a little black kitten came marching out from behind the pulpit meowing his head off.

Everyone at the camp knew we were trying to rescue this kitten, so they called us. We got permission from the priest to set the trap inside the church after the service was over, and within an hour the kitten was in the trap.

It was decided that the kitten would be named either Sister Mary Margaret or Father Frances, depending on its gender, and when it was declared a boy, we nicknamed him Frankie.

Frankie's disposition is mellow and reserved. He doesn’t like to be picked up a lot but loves to be petted while lying next to his caregiver. He and Cody (above) have become good buddies, and they like to hang out together, so it would be really great if they could be adopted together.

Ginger

Ginger is a young female who was rescued from feral life because she showed a lot of potential to be social. Her left ear is "tipped," which is how feral cats are marked when they're spayed and neutered and returned to their colony. Ginger gets along well with other cats and has adjusted to indoor life nicely. She loves canned food and rubs around her caregiver's legs while waiting for dinner. She enjoys being petted more and more each day and loves to play. This sweet and gentle cat will make a lovely family pet.

Daphne

This kitten's personality is as lively and colorful as her swirling tabby coat. She's very attentive and talkative, so if you're looking for a great companion kitty, she'd be a great choice!

Daphne would most likely prefer to be an only cat. She's had a few run-ins with a one-year-old female cat in her foster home. It's possible that an older, more sedate cat could be a good match for her.

Cambridge and Chelsea

These littermates are also best friends and need to be adopted as a pair. They are wonderful together. They groom each another, then suddenly break into a
wrestling match, and then just as suddenly return to grooming. They like to cuddle in their basket or on a windowsill. Both are well litter-trained and adapted well to life in their foster home.

Cambridge is inquisitive, engaged, affectionate and cuddly. This orange boy has tiger stripes, a white bib, unusual facial markings, and the furry eartips of a Maine Coon — a regally handsome fellow. He will adjust well to a new home and make a wonderful pet.

Chelsea is a shy girl but she has made excellent progress in her foster home and has even taken to sleeping at the foot of her foster Mom's bed. This photo doesn't really do justice to her beauty — her long, soft fur and Maine Coon characteristics.

Vivian (aka Momma Kitty)

Vivian is Momma Kitty to Lucy, Fred, and Ethel. She's two years old, very affectionate, and loves to be held and scratched. While she likes to play with her favorite crinkly toy, she's quiet and gentle and loves to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea. She'll make someone a lovely companion.

Buttercup - ADOPTED! HOORAY!

Buttercup has an unusually sweet disposition and loves affection, chin scratches, and being carried around. She and her kitten, Grayce (below), are a bit reserved when meeting new people and cats but then they quickly adapt. Buttercup and Grayce are quite bonded and need to stay together. They love to play, sleep, and groom !together. They would rather not live with dogs, as they are quite timid around them.

Grayce - ADOPTED! HOORAY!

Grayce is an extremely happy, outgoing kitten, and a bit of a show off. She enjoys running out of her room to visit the big kitties, and she actually rescued her family by prancing about in the open and getting noticed!

Grayce and Buttercup (above) have become quite bonded to each other, and need to be adopted together. They would rather not live with dogs, as they are quite timid around them.

Callie

Callie is a tortishell calico girl — mostly black with enough orange to be feisty! She loves to play and is quite shy with humans still, though plays happily and hangs out near people. She enjoys recreational hissing, however, is willing to replace that with purring in the right home.

Melvin

Can you provide a home with a little extra love and attention for this sweet boy?

He is doing well on a low-protein diet and medication to manage a congenital defect, a liver shunt, which causes a blood vessel to bypass the liver. The condition prevents the liver from cleaning and filtering blood properly, so toxins and ammonia can build up and cause physical and neurological problems. As long as he is doing well with dietary and medical treatment, surgical correction is not necessary, but it may be necessary in the future.

It’s been a year since Melvin was diagnosed, and he has a wonderful life for himself in his foster home. His condition gives him extra energy that requires lots of exercise. Normally, he would be an indoor cat, but that is too sedentary for him, so he gets to explore the yard on a harness and lead. He watches squirrels, birds, and groundhogs, and he plays with free-roaming cats and the puppy next door (his new toy), who come to visit.

Melvin is very happy and full of life, he has a great sense of humor and adventure, he is neutered and up to date on shots.
